3. Sharing Slides
Open up your slides
If using Google slides (or you just want to share a webpage), open them in a new browser tab or window
If using Powerpoint:
Open your slides in Powerpoint.
From the top menu, go to Slide Show > Set Up Show
Check “Browsed by an individual (window)”, then OK
Start your slide show - it will now open in a separate window.
Go back to the WOW interface, and the (default) Share view. Click “Share screen.”
Find your slides in the pop-up window.
If using Powerpoint, go to Application Window and select your Powerpoint slides. Alternately, you can share any other browser window or application you have open (e.g. Google slides).
Click Share.
Please do not select “Your Entire Screen” when sharing. (This is not an optimal view for students.)
Your slides will now be visible to students in the WOW interface. You can return to Powerpoint and advance your slides as normal. (This will be reflected in the WOW interface).
Hide the sharing notification at the bottom of the screen (so that it doesn’t obscure slides - students can see this too unless you hide it).
4. Annotating Your Slides
In the Share view, click the pencil icon in the lower right. You can choose different annotation tools and adjust settings from the menu at the top. Clicking the Trash icon will erase all annotations.
5. Student Gallery
To see your students in a full-screen gallery, you will need to stop sharing your slides. Click the Wall icon in the top navigation.
6. Sharing a YouTube Video
From the Share window, click the YouTube icon
Copy the video ID from the YouTube link (sequence of letters/numbers after the = sign in the URL)
Paste the video ID in the Video ID field and click Share YouTube.
Your video will now appear in the share window and be visible to students. Click the video play button.
To share another video, click “Stop sharing YouTube”, and then enter a new Video ID.
7. Sharing a PDF
From the Share window, click the PDF icon
Select “Click or drag file to upload”
Choose a PDF to upload. Once it has finished uploading (takes a few seconds), click Share PDF.
Your PDF will appear in the window and be visible to students. You can either scroll through the PDF or advance pages by using the right or left arrow keys.
Alternately, you can send the PDFs to IE beforehand, and they will have them uploaded to your session before it starts. In that case, click “Choose uploaded file” (instead of “Click or drag file to upload”).
8. Polls
Click the “Create Poll” tab from the top navigation menu.
Click “New Poll” and enter your prompt and answer choices.
Click Start poll. Once everyone has responded, click Stop poll.
You then have the options to Save Poll, Save Results, Show Results, or Start (a new) poll.
9. Ending the Class
Click the “End Class” button from the bottom control panel.
Click “Leave” call.
Once you leave the call a CSV file will automatically be downloaded to your computer. Please email the downloaded file to your instructional designer. The file provides information about attendance and participation.
